Liz Obomsawin

Liz Obomsawin  – “Yakothahiyó” – is a member of the Oneida Indian Nation in New York and the Abenaki First Nation in Quebec. She is the host of Restoring Hearts Indigenous Ministries (restoringhearts.ca) which is a podcast and radio program featured on Indigenous Hope Radio. Liz has authored the book, The Moccasin Trail to Heaven, which is a step by step guide for First Peoples of Canada and the United States to encounter Jesus from their relational worldview and continue on His path to heaven. She is currently the Native Ministries Coordinator for the Terrace SDA church in Terrace, British Columbia. It is her heart’s desire that the First Peoples of Canada and the United States will come to know Jesus as their personal friend and Saviour in order to be restored to the health, peace and happiness they originally experienced with Creator.

Liz’s interest in documenting oral history and tradition led her to academic studies. She completed her B.A. in History in 1996  from Utica College of Syracuse University and her Master of Arts in Native American Studies at S.U.N.Y. at Buffalo in  February of 1998. She received her M.A. in Television-radio-film from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public  Communications at Syracuse University in 2002. Since 2002, Ms. Obomsawin, CEO and President of Sekon Productions, has produced and directed documentaries, short films, and TV ads for First Nations, Indigenous  organizations, and individuals in Canada and the United States. This includes seven treaty documentaries for BC  First Nations, educational films for museums, and conferences for Indigenous Knowledge, Traditional Knowledge, Hate, and Racism. Liz has a passion for sharing the gospel with a culturally contextualized approach.
